Care, Between Everything - A place to begin

Care, Between Everything - A place to begin

What this series is (and isn’t)

Care, Between Everything is our ongoing series for mothers. It’s designed for real life; full days, shifting needs, and moments that rarely belong only to you. This is not about adding more to your day or following ideal routines. It’s about weaving care into what already exists; gently, realistically, and without pressure.

Rather than offering full routines from the start, this series introduces care in layers. You can choose what fits your circumstances, leave what doesn’t, and allow care to build slowly over time.

    Layer one; beginning the day

The first layer is simple and grounding.

A warm glass of water with lemon; or if that doesn’t agree with your body, warm water with a little honey. A small act of hydration that asks very little, but gives something back.

Layer two; one minute of face care

Run a washcloth under water as warm as you can comfortably tolerate. Wring it out and press it gently against your face. As you do, soften your shoulders and unclench your jaw.

If you have a small baby, prepare the cloth before a feed and take this moment while they’re feeding. Care doesn’t need separate time; it can exist alongside what you’re already doing.

    Layer three; simple nourishment

Keep meals uncomplicated. A bowl with tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, a little feta; finished with olive oil.

If you’re breastfeeding, make yourself comfortable and eat while your little one has their meal too. If you’re bottle feeding, feed your baby first, then sit them upright for burping or place them in a rocker; use that moment to finish your meal.

How this care builds over time

These steps aren’t meant to become a perfect routine. They’re footholds. Small moments that can be repeated, adjusted, and lived with. As this series continues, we’ll introduce additional layers of care; face, body, hair, nourishment, and rest. You’re invited to choose what serves you, when it serves you.

Care doesn’t need ideal conditions to matter.

    Moving forward, gently

We hope to support you through your motherhood, as we recognise how challenging this time can be; the constant demands, the invisible work, and the quiet ways it can stretch you.

    Layer by layer.
    Until next time.
